EAT8 AUTOMATIC GEARBOX, PURETECH AND BLUEHDI ENGINES

For PEUGEOT, car manufacturer, environmental commitment is absolutely essential, as long as the pleasure of driving is preserved. PEUGEOT engineers and designers have therefore imagined and designed a set of efficient solutions.

PURETECH ENGINES

The family of Peugeot PureTech 3-cylinder petrol engines is a concentration of efficiency and cutting-edge technology. Voted engine of the year in its category in 2015, 2016 and 2017, this family powers the entire Peugeot range from 108 to 5008.

BLUEHDI ENGINES

Creator of the most efficient system on the market in terms of reducing polluting emissions, Peugeot confirms its leadership in terms of environmental efficiency. BlueHDi is the name of Peugeot's Euro 6 Diesel engines, combining high performance and low emissions.

EAT6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

The EAT6 gearbox  is a 6-speed automatic gearbox, optimizing fuel consumption and driving sensations. It has been designed to drastically reduce CO 2 emissions while offering high level comfort of use.

EAT8 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

This Peugeot automatic gearbox reduces fuel consumption by up to 7% thanks to improved efficiency with the extension of Stop & Start up to 20 km/h and the change to 8 gears. It also allows gains in mass and compactness.

STOP & START

With Stop & Start function , available with petrol and diesel engines, combine ecological performance and driving pleasure!

Adapted to urban driving, the Stop & Start function automatically cuts the engine each time the vehicle comes to a stop, for example at a red light or at a “Stop” sign. When the driver wishes to continue his journey, restarting takes place instantly and smoothly.

This technology has many advantages: better control of consumption (-15% in dense urban traffic, compared to a conventional vehicle), reduction of CO 2 emissions (zero emissions when the engine is stopped) and silence at the stop.

In order to adapt to all driving modes, Stop & Start can be deactivated.

EMP2 AND CMP PLATFORMS

Two platforms available: The EMP2 platform  and the multi-energy CMP/eCMP platform are at the heart of the design and manufacture of the new city, mid-range and high-end models of the PSA Group, which notably provide:

  • A modular architecture   to meet the specific requirements of the main world markets (4- and 5-door saloons, station wagons, minivans, notchback vehicles, SUVs, convertibles or coupés)
  • A variety of engines and gearboxes on a single platform (4 cylinders, hybrid, 4 wheel drive, etc.)
  • Lightening vehicles and reducing CO 2 emissions while improving rigidity, safety and driving pleasure thanks to its innovative lightweight materials such as steel, composite materials, aluminum for ground connections and to processes to tip (like hot stamping and laser welding)
  • Innovative technological choices optimizing steering comfort, handling, comfort in the passenger compartment and safety (composite floor, ultra-low rolling resistance tyres, etc.)
  • More freedom of style (large wheels, variability of wheelbases, low hood and low ride, ...) whatever the silhouette (SUV, sedan, ...)

Launched on the Peugeot 308 in 2013, the EMP2 platform makes it possible to produce the new Peugeot 3008/3008 plug-in hybrid and 5008 SUVs, the 508/508 plug-in hybrid, the 508SW/508SW plug-in hybrid, the Rifter, the Traveller/e-Traveller and Expert/e-Expert.

The CMP/eCMP platform is dedicated to the manufacture of the 208/e-208 city car and the 2008/e-2008 compact SUV.

BATTERY RECYCLING

In line with its commitments to reduce the environmental impact of its end-of-life vehicles, Groupe PSA has joined forces with SNAM , European leader in the collection and recycling of power batteries. The agreement signed at the end of 2015, as part of the partnership with SNAM since 2012 in France, guarantees the quality of the collection and recycling processes for the batteries of the Group's vehicles, electric and hybrid at the end of their its sales network and production sites in Europe.

The performances obtained by SNAM* reach 70% efficiency of the recycled masses for the Li-ion batteries of electric vehicles and 84% for the Ni-MH batteries of hybrid vehicles. These rates are well above the thresholds of European regulations which impose 50% material recycling.
