THE COMPOSITION OF A WINDSHIELD

Once made of tempered glass, the windshields shattered into a thousand pieces upon impact. Modern windshields are made of laminated glass. They are made of alternating layers of sheets of glass and polyvinyl butyral (PVB) making the assembly stretchy and tear resistant. In the event of impact, the cohesion of the glazing is maintained. 

REPAIRABLE IMPACTS

  • in star
  • In bubble and in star
  • In a bubble
  • In 1/2 bubble

NON-REPAIRABLE IMPACTS

  • All impacts located in the driver's field of vision,
  • All impacts on the periphery of the windshield,
  • Star impacts with an area greater than a 2 euro coin, or when there are more than 3 impacts on the windscreen.
    Similarly, a repaired impact cannot be repaired a second time,
  • All impacts with material removal,
  • All impacts on athermal windscreens.

As soon as an impact occurs, it is advisable to protect the damaged area with a transparent adhesive of the size of the impact. This will prevent dust or water infiltration from making repair difficult, if not impossible. Once this operation has been carried out, make an appointment as soon as possible at PEUGEOT Service.
